Art for January 3, 2014

Here is some new stuff. One picture is of some mugs I just trimmed today. Another picture is of some pots I re-glazed. They were glaze fired but I did not like them so I am re-glazing them. Another picture is of my ball mill. It is milling some wood ash for stoneware glaze. A ball mill fine grinds material so it can pass through an 80 mesh screen. Another picture is of some tiles I am making for a table meant to be done for the ACT Hidden Garden tour in the Spring. The tiles are placed between wooden bats so they will dry flat. The last picture is a painting of Miles Davis. I am struggling with how to finish it but that is the joy of what we do. Tomorrow I will load the kiln and mix some clay and maybe finish Mr. Davis. The painting is made from tempera mixed with acrylic, masonry, additive. Yesterday I bought some linseed oil and Japan Dryer to mix the tempera with oils. This will be fun.

Pat is absolutely tireless. He gets more done in a single day than I do in a month!
