"Her Heart Soars" |
Last year she was on the easel again, and quickly became more symbolic. I've always loved the winged heart icon. The idea that when our hearts come close to bursting (whether from joy or grief), we are better served if we choose to release these feelings and hand them over to God. On wings they drift away and are transformed into beautiful blessings. And by releasing, they become something far greater than if we had continued to hold them tight.
Recently I've reworked the foreground heart and cropped the painting down to this smaller size. It seems fitting in this "Season of the Heart" to post this now.

This is fitting in anticipation of St. Valentines. No matter the actual size, the image seems larger than life. Wonderful image of Katherine, Laura!
This is both so lovely and strong at the same moment. I've enjoyed your winged hearts for years and now with a greater understanding and appreciation.
Thank you.
I love the pallet choice and the heart shape is placed perfectly..very inspiring.
Love the meaning and the painting.
I love your portraits!
I was just scrolling down past downloads for art-a-day and looked at this with fresh eyes. I was startled that it reminded me of Frida. Remember her paintings of the heart.
Thank you friends. Annette, I will have to check out Frida's heart paintings. Not sure which one you are referring to … but am sure I can google it.
