Day 19 (laura gable)

I like the way the photo looks ... though it's entirely inaccurate. The oil painting's colors are a bit more vibrant and not quite so antiqued looking. It's painted on a gold gessoed surface, so some of that shines through in the scumbled background. (small 6x6 oil on board).

The idea is to challenge yourself creatively every day for the month of January. Wherever you do your work, however you do your work, just show up every day and do it. It’s that simple. How to challenge yourself is up to you – but do challenge yourself & share your experiences here on this blog. This is a fun & powerful experience if you allow it.

Do I Have to Blog Everyday?

No. Though it's a good thing, a fun thing, and highly encouraged at least now and again. Some participation lets us know you are on board, inspires others and may be used to determine eligibility for inclusion in a show (if we have one).

Do I Make Art Everyday?

Yes. That is the commitment.

Art-a-Day is self-regulating

It is very loose; however diligence is expected because that's what makes it expansive -for you. That is, you commit yourself in whatever fashion you can to "doing" art every day. Add to your piece each day or create something new, it’s up to you. It might mean folding a paper napkin while you are on an airplane flying across the globe because that's all you could do that day - but it was intentional.
