Hearts and more hearts

Got caught up with hearts again today.  I was just going to cut out a few and they seem to take off on their own accord. The big ones are about 1 1/2" wide.
Lots of fun and will find a way to attach them to cards for DS Watkins First Thursday but I have that nagging -didn't get anything done- feeling.  Too many projects  in-process, I guess.  S'pect I best see some completions this coming week.

daylight studio, steampunk hearts

This is for Jim, studio daylight view.  Didn't want you fretting that I worked in a dismal cave.  :)
I have an old turn-of-the-(other) century photo album of empty pages that I'm experimenting with for the Valentine cards.  Still roughing out the design but think they'll work out suitably funky and period appropriate too!  The zigsaw cut outs work fairly well as functional closures - cool!.

My Valentines, Art Space and Goodies

Hello everyone! Isn't it beautiful outside? Unless you're on the east coast, in which case I hope you'll de-frost soon, and have a cup of cocoa. Right, So remember how yesterday I made Valentines but my silly computer didn't want to upload them? Well, today the sun is shining and my computer is feeling generous!

Here it is! I drew, painted and glittered to the point that it might have been unhealthy. Blast the consequences though, what other holiday lets you O.D. on pink??

I picked out little "gifts" for the recipient.
A cookie ( I nibbled on) a cup cake and a Trader Joe's sticker

For this project I dug deep and found my art desk! Although rummaging through papers, boxes and bags of craft supplies took awhile, I'm glad to have my art space and inspiration wall back.

I hope you all will have a happy Valentines Day, whether it's hanging out with friends, family, that special someone or even your cats!
Stay Artsy,

Valentine Mandala

I can't share pictures yet of what I've spent most of my time creating, as they are commission pieces for a cross stitch magazine and need to be secret until they are published.  The first of the four is actually in the issue on the newsstand right now (the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Just Cross Stitch) - I've got a picture on my home page, if you want to see it.  They are mandalas for each of the seasons.

Here is a painted mandala I CAN show you.  I was thinking Valentine's Day when I set up the palette.  It is red India ink and watercolor.  (Did you know India comes in colors now?)  This is the first one I have done using a color instead of black ink.
