Me too Bobi - it's rainy and windy and miserable and I'm too lazy to get out and too lazy to paint so I fall back on my computer. It's such a time suck - I honestly don't know where the hours go! Anyway, showing the original photo of San Juan Capistrano, my textured, layered, adjusted photo and closeup to show how the textures really look (since these pics are pretty small).

Oops, guess the close up didn't work so well - at any rate it has a kind of canvasy/cheesecloth layer and a rusty blue splotchy layer and a scratched layer. Plus I converted it to bl/wht but the texture layers softened that and gave it a more vintage look I think.
both are lovely - what program are you using?
I recognized those columns and arches from our summer trip to San Juan Capistrano. It was a lovely, spiritual place. What a fun process you are experiencing here.
I use Photoshop Elements, the 'baby' and MUCH easier version of Photoshop. I use it to store, sort, organize all my photos and it comes with more filters and actions that I'll ever use but I find it fun and quite addicting.
I use Elements too - like version 2, I think. The idea of the full fledged Photoshop is overwhelming.
