"In the Zone"

So, this soccer mom saw some of my stuff and told me she would like me to paint a pic of her daughter playing soccer.

I took some personal liberties with it and charged her enough for a couple tanks of gasoline, at today's prices, and I never heard from her again.

Either I charged her too much, or she didn't like the painting, afterall there's not a blade of green grass, or blue sky, anywhere. Or both. Oh well.

watercolor, 9x12, Arches

That's cool piece. DID she actually buy it? Or just ignored, I've had that :}

Good painterly stuff.

I like the energy of the whole thing and the focus of the player. Maybe mom needed a photographer to catch the image she had in mind.
I very much enjoy your interpretation. Her loss.

I love this! Such great action, and I think it captures that super-pumped-soccer-kid-feel. The mother puzzles me.

My kids played soccer plenty of times in muddy fields without a blade of grass and I'd be thrilled to have such a great interpretation. Look at her hair - she's flying toward the goal. And that concentration. People are weird....and the painting is excellent!

Pat, you are all set to post as "Pat" in a new post, post pictures, etc., the works. She-Pat got it set up and ready to go a few weeks ago.
Give it a go and post some pictures!

This is a great piece! I think you captured the focused, controlled energy of the girl in a wonderful, loose style. Even the ball is in motion... I would have cherished a painting like this of my boys playing soccer.
