Ringo Starr

This from a few years ago, but since I'm looking at it today, I'm thinking it qualifies, for Art-A-Day, right?

This is white charcoal, only, on black paper and I have the entire series of the Beatles done as such. The images were all inspired by their first American album, "Meet the Beatles," where they are all four shown with that marvelous side light on their faces.

Good ol'Ringo, I'm glad you didn't neglect him, being the least loved of the four :)
Well Done!

We did this one time with a childrens art class. Took portraits of each child in a darkened room, holding a light up to one side of the face. Then they were given a piece of black matt board, and they only had to paint half the face, using the photo as reference. I told them it was easier, doing only half the work, but one girl wildly complained. It was definitely challenging, but results were worth it.

Jim this is exquisite. I love this gentle execution and shading...and use of no "line"
