9th Annual Art-a-Day Challenge, January 2018!

Friday, January 21, 2011

All this winter weather and it's gray sky's and rain!
I needed a min-vacation today.
Somewhere old,
With beautiful architecture,
ideally in France.
So, I got onto Google Maps and used their photo maps to take a stroll down Quai de Bartentin, Orleans France.
Lucky for me the pictures had been taken in the spring or summer.
The light was warm, sky was blue and I stumbled on to this adorable house.

Covered in ivy and worn stucco, I knew this was a perfect subject to draw!

One Sharpie and 40 minutes later I have a bit of Orleans with me.

A wonderful drawing Sarah! So much better than the picture.

Nice! What a great idea, too! Virtual summer. :)

Cool looking house, and drawing of it. Looks like something I'd try to paint but I'd make it a haunted house.

Who says drawing from a photograph is a bad idea? When it helps inspire or "take us away", I'm all for it. I'm going to follow your lead and pull out some old travel souvenir pics and see if I can find sketching inspiration.....
