Picnik is Dead, Portland OR is Weird

Okay, there are two things on my mind at the moment.
The first is this, Google is shutting down my FAVORITE photo editing site called picnik. I use this free service EVERY DAY for my art and blog. I have used picnik for many, years and I can't believe this is happening! Powers that be at Google, you horrible little men.. You're on my bad list. Aside from picnik they are shutting down Needlebase, Social Graph API, Urchin and Google Sky Map. I'm honestly worried about what to do when picnik is gone. Any good photo editing sites you know of, please comment.
So aside from that disaster, I do have good news!
Tomorrow I'm boarding a plane destined for Portland Oregon. I was born there and still have friends to visit and of course family to see. Below is a rather romanticized version of my trip.

While on vacation I'll try my hardest to post everyday, but I will be out of reach for 3 days on the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately there is no reliable Internet connection, barbaric I know! ^_^
Stay Artsy & DFTBA.. Oh and Google SUCKS.

Hi Sarah you asked about image editing software ... here are a few I was just reading about tonight. I've not used them, I use Photoshop, but perhaps these will help you:

Get Paint (http://www.getpaint.net) a free open-source program for Windows-based computers, can also help to format images successfully.

If you are a Mac user, download Gimp (http://www.gimp.org), a userful image editing program.

# Sumo, Aviary, and Pixlr are some of the few websites out there that offer image editing right in the browser.

so sad about picnik! seeking and learning new tools can be such a drag - at least until we get to the other side.
Love your travel image. Looks so Continental - and not a single bird in it! Joyful travels!

Hi Sarah,

My name is Jenn, I'm part of a team of former-Picnikers. We see that you've been an avid user of Picnik and love to hear about your passion for great photos!

You're probably looking for an alternative to your old favorite so I wanted to let you know about www.PicMonkey.com -- a new photo editing site built by a couple of the folks who brought you Picnik! It’ll be familiar, fun, and totally user-friendly.

Sign up on our site and we’ll keep you updated on a launch date. Also, feel free to send me your feedback, feature requests, and, of course, any questions you have!

Hope to see more of your photo creations soon!

Jenn
